A Hiking We Will Go

Yesterday was beautiful and I wanted to go for a hike but instead we took a nap(sleeping in a strange bed while house sitting makes you tired). So I couldn’t let today slip by without spending some time outdoors… Mike’s brother and sisters were coming over so I suggested going out to Caledonia and I’m glad we did. It was a beautiful day and we have a fun time walking, and taking pictures…

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is breast cancer awareness month and at work we did a t-shirt fundraiser to raise money to donate toward breast cancer. We were told this morning that we raised a total of $500.00! In celebration we all wore our Strength, Hope, Faith, Courage t-shirts and were treated to Panera Bread breast cancer ribbon bagels.

And the yummy Panera Bread cherry vanilla bagels!

Breast Self-Awareness

Except for skin cancers, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, but it can be successfully treated. Screening tests can find cancer early, when it’s most treatable.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure® recommends that you:

1. Know your risk

  • Talk to your family to learn about your family health history

  • Talk to your provider about your personal risk of breast cancer

2. Get screened

  • Ask your doctor which screening tests are right for you if you are at a higher risk

  • Have a mammogram every year starting at age 40 if you are at average risk

  • Have a clinical breast exam at least every 3 years starting at 20, and every year starting at 40

3. Know what is normal for you
See your health care provider right away if you notice any of these breast changes:

  • Lump, hard knot or thickening

  • Swelling, warmth, redness or darkening

  • Change in the size or shape of the breast

  • Dimpling or puckering of the skin

  • Itchy, scaly sore or rash on the nipple

  • Pulling in of your nipple or other parts of the breast

  • Nipple discharge that starts suddenly

  • New pain in one spot that doesn’t go away

4. Make healthy lifestyle choices

  • Maintain a healthy weight

  • Add exercise into your routine

  • Limit alcohol intake

The New Beginning...

So I've finally taken the plunge and decided to start a word press blog. For the last I'm not sure how many years of my life I've hung out at blogger and I even have a pretty cool blog at blogger right now that includes the wedding and part of our honeymoon. But I've decided that it was time to make the switch and get a fresh start. Time to figure out something new. So here I(maybe we) come with the start of a new blog. I shall make my best attempt to keep up with sharing our life with anyone that cares to follow along! :-)

House Sitting

I've been house sitting for years now. For awhile I was juggling 4 different houses, though that tough schedule slowed done over the years and became pretty much just two places. Now that I'm married I've decided that it's time to hang up my house sitting hat and leave the responsibility to someone else. Mike and I are currently house sitting with one week to go and then that's it. It's been fun and pretty cool to live in other people's houses and make money doing it. But now I have my own house(and husband) to take care of and am ready to close that chapter of my life.
