Since we’ve been married(3 years) I’ve never once bought pre-made taco seasoning. It’s so quick and easy to make at home and with some ground beef and salsa you have the perfect taco meat!! It’s a favorite at our house!
You’ll want to start by browning your meat. While that’s browning you can mix up your taco seasoning!
Homemade Taco Seasoning
INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Pinch of cayenne pepper
Pinch red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon table salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
DIRECTIONS
Mix all spices together until well combined, set aside until ready to add to beef and salsa mixture.
Brown 1 pound of ground beef. Once your meat is browned drain off any excess grease. Then add a 16 ounce jar of your favorite salsa. We prefer hot! And combine it with your meat.
Add your taco seasoning and combine again.
Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes or until you are ready to make your taco’s.
Add your favorite toppings(we did beans, cheese and lettuce) and enjoy!!

I make my own taco seasoning too...it's nice to know what is going into your meal :-) Never thought of adding salsa though. May have to try that!
